JERUSALEM (JTA) — An Israeli soldier and a civilian security guard, as well as a Palestinian protester, were injured in clashes near the West Bank settlement of Yitzhar.
The clashes began Monday after a Palestinian youth, identified as a shepherd, approached the entrance to the settlement and refused to stop when instructed by security officers. He then attacked soldiers who tried to arrest him, according to reports.
Other Palestinians gathered and began to throw stones at the soldiers and civilians living in the settlement, Ynet reported. A soldier fearing he was about to be attacked by a protester shot at a Palestinian’s legs after warning him to stop.
The soldiers reportedly used crowd dispersal methods to stop the rioting. An Israeli soldier and a civilian security guard were injured by rocks thrown by the rioters.
