JERUSALEM (JTA) — Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Salam Fayyad called for a Palestinian boycott of all Israeli goods.

Fayyad said Sunday in Ramallah that a boycott of Israeli goods is "a way of resisting the occupation."

The boycott call reportedly also is a response to the Israeli government’s decision to withhold approximately $100 million in tax revenues that it had collected for the Palestinian Authority. The freeze came after the United Nations General Assembly voted on Nov. 29 to upgrade the Palestinians’ U.N. status to non-member state observer, against Israel’s wishes.

The money was transferred to the Israel Electricity Company to pay the PA’s debts.

Fayyad called the Israeli decision to withhold the tax revenues a "flagrant assault on our rights."
