JERUSALEM (JTA) — A mosque near Hebron was spray-painted with graffiti referring to the Migron outpost in the West Bank.
"Price Tag Migron" was painted on the wall of a mosque in Dura, a village located southwest of Hebron. Palestinian residents informed West Bank police on Tuesday evening.
"Price tag" refers to the strategy that extremists have adopted to exact a price in attacks on Palestinians and Arabs in retribution for settlement freezes and demolitions, or for Palestinian attacks on Jews. The illegal Migron outpost was evacuated of its 50 families earlier this month.
Mahmoud al-Habbash, the Palestinian Authority minister of religious affairs, told the Palestinian Ma’an news agency that settlers also tried to burn the mosque and several cars around the building.
The incident comes on the heels of an attack last week in which the door of the Latrun Monastery was set on fire, and the names of West Bank outposts and a derogatory reference to Jesus were spray-painted on the walls.
