WASHINGTON (JTA) — Reporters Without Borders expressed concern about the disappearance of a pro-Israeli journalist working in Iraqi Kurdistan.

"We fear the worst and we urge the autonomous Kurdistan Regional Government’s authorities to do everything possible to find Mouloud Anfand,” Reporters Without Borders said in a statement issued Wednesday. “And we therefore call for an immediate investigation into this journalist’s disappearance.”

Anfand edits Kurd-Israel, which promotes closer ties between Kurds and Jews.

Iran has pressed the Kurdish Regional Government to shut down the publication and its publisher, the Kurd-Israel Association.

Friends have told media that Anfand has been missing since June 8, when he went to Sulaimaniyah for an appointment.

Dawod Baghestani, the magazine’s publisher, has told the Point of no return, a blog chronicling the region’s Jewish refugees, that he believes the Iranians kidnapped Anfand, who is of Iranian origin, and brought him to Iran.
