(JTA) — A British television station is searching for the "ultimate Jewish mother" for a new series.
The four-part "Jewish Mum of the Year" series on Channel 4, which is being filmed in collaboration with The Jewish News of Britain, will air in the fall.
Contestants reportedly will be judged on their skills in cooking, homemaking, matchmaking, party planning and how well they know their children. The search reportedly will focus on large Jewish communities in Glasgow, Manchester, Leeds, Essex and London.
"The competition will seek out the traditional, the overbearing, the cheek-pinching and the charming," Channel 4 said in a statement, according to The Guardian. "The winner is out there somewhere in the land of the Jewish princess and the over-pampered bar mitzvah boys, and no streudel will be left unturned in this quest to find the perfect Jewish mum. It’s a television show with a heart of gold."
Channel 4 has been criticized in the past for shows that stereotype, including "Big Fat Gypsy Wedding."
