NEW YORK (JTA) — President Obama is now expected to meet Wednesday with Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas, in addition to a separate powwow with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Earlier in the week, the White House said Obama did not have any plans to meet with Abbas.
"With both the Israelis and the Palestinians, the president will be able to say very directly why we believe action at the United Nations is not the way" to achieve a Palestinian state, Deputy National Security Adviser Ben Rhodes reportedly told members of media.
