BERLIN (JTA) — Convicted Nazi war criminal John Demjanjuk may face additional charges for his alleged role as a guard in the Nazi concentration camp in Flossenburg, Germany.

Demjanjuk, 91, also may have been involved in the murder of 4,974 people at the camp in Bavaria between October 1943 and December 1944, according to a report in the Tagesspiegel newspaper.

The Tagesspiegel reported that investigating judge Thomas Walther and special prosecutor Cornelius Nestler — both of whom were involved in the recent prosecution of Demjanjuk in a Munich court — found a report indicating that Demjanjuk and another man, Alex N., may have been involved in the killings at Flossenburg.

Demjanjuk is currently living in a senior home in Bavaria pending an appeal of his May conviction as an accessory in the murder of nearly 28,000 Jews at the Sobibor extermination camp in Poland. He was sentenced to five years.

On May 31, a Munich court turned down a request from Spain that Demjanjuk be extradited to stand trial there for crimes allegedly committed in Flossenburg.

According to reports, of the 155 Spanish citizens held in the camp, 60 were murdered. A court spokesperson said that the evidence presented by the Spanish court did not convincingly link Demjanjuk to the specific deaths.
