JERUSALEM (JTA) — Israel is holding a countrywide, weeklong civil defense drill simulating a massive attack on the country.

The drill, called Turning Point 5, began Sunday and will include several different simulations, including a mass missile attack from all fronts, a strike on the country’s power plants and the hacking of its major computer systems.

Sirens will sound across the country on Wednesday in the morning and evening, when citizens are asked to run to bomb shelters or protected rooms and remain there for 10 minutes.

For the first time, the Home Front Command will test a system that sends warnings of incoming missiles to cell phone users in the area. The drill also will simulate the evacuation of 300,000 people from north and central Israel to the south.
