JERUSALEM (JTA) — A Kassam rocket fired from Gaza landed in the western Negev, causing damage to a building.
The rocket, fired Thursday afternoon, damaged a kibbutz building located near residential buildings. No one was injured, according to reports.
A group affiliated with al-Qaida claimed responsibility, Ynet reported.
The attack came just a couple hours after U.S. Vice President Joe Biden condemned Kassam attacks on Israel’s South and reiterated the U.S. commitment to Israel’s security.
It was first rocket fired from the Gaza Strip since Feb. 11.
