JERUSALEM (JTA) — Israel’s Ben-Gurion International Airport held a large-scale emergency exercise.

Tuesday’s exercise, staged by the Israel Defense Forces and the Israel Airports Authority, began at noon and was set to last 10 hours. The IDF Home Front Command and the Israel Police also joined the drill.

The drill is not connected to the recent attack on a Detroit-bound Northwest Airlines flight by a Nigerian man reportedly acting on behalf of al-Qaida, according to the IDF spokesman, who said in a statement that it is part of the army’s annual course of training.

Meanwhile, U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano delayed a visit to Israel scheduled for Saturday following the Detroit attack, The Jerusalem Post reported. The secretary was scheduled to meet with Israeli public security officials.
