WASHINGTON (JTA) — A group of rabbis will participate in a conference call with Richard Goldstone.
Sunday’s conference call with Goldstone, the chair of a U.N. fact-finding mission that charged both Israel and Hamas with war crimes in the Gaza conflict and urged both to launch investigations of that conduct, was organized by Taanit Tzedek-Jewish Fast for Gaza, a monthly fast launched in July by a group of rabbis protesting Israel’s blockade of Gaza. The Rabbinic Cabinet of Brit Tzedek and Rabbis for Human Rights-North America are co-sponsors.
In a news release, the organizers said they hoped the call would "stimulate new discussion among rabbis and in the Jewish community about the ethical issues discussed" in the Goldstone report.
