WASHINGTON (JTA) — Turkey’s prime minister says his country will urge the U.N. Security Council to discuss a report detailing war crimes during Israel’s Gaza operation.

"We’re in favor of opening discussions on the Goldstone report," Tayyip Erdogan said Saturday. "Whoever is the guilty party, they should be identified and face the necessary sanctions."

The report, compiled for the United Nations by a commission led by former South African jurist Richard Goldstone, accuses Israel and Hamas of war crimes and possibly crimes against humanity during the December-January war in the Gaza Strip.
