JERUSALEM (JTA) — Right-wing activists erected a protest test in front of the prime minister’s residence in Jerusalem.
The tent, initiated by settler leaders, is to protest a possible freeze in building in the settlements.
The protest began Monday as Benjamin Netanyahu left for the United States and Tuesday meetings with President Obama and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas. The settler leaders are worried that Netanyahu could announce a construction freeze in the settlements at the meetings.
Lawmaker Benny Begin, of Netanyahu’s Likud Party, visited the tent Monday in support of the demonstrators.
