WASHINGTON (JTA) — The executive director of the American Jewish Committee was elected to a visiting post at Oxford University.

David Harris was named a senior associate member of Oxford University’s St. Antony College for the 2009-10 academic year and also will be a member of the college’s European Studies Centre.

In the late 1970s, Harris was a junior visiting scholar at St. Antony’s, one of Oxford’s postgraduate colleges. St. Antony’s specializes in international relations, economics, politics and modern history.

Harris said in a statement that he will be continuing in his full-time role at AJC but making regular visits to the college, where he will "attend seminars, pursue research and writing projects, and engage with a distinguished scholarly community that intersects directly with AJC’s global activity.”
