JERUSALEM (JTA) — Israel’s air force bombed a Palestinian tunnel leading from Gaza into Israel.

The attack early Sunday morning was in response to a Kassam rocket fired from Gaza into Israel on Saturday morning, according to the IDF spokesman’s office, which said the tunnel was built to infiltrate Israeli territory.

Also on Sunday, Palestinians in Gaza fired on Israeli soldiers fixing the border fence in the northern Gaza Strip, according to reports.

Meanwhile, bombs exploded at two Hamas compounds in Gaza early Sunday morning, according to reports. No one claimed responsibility for the explosions, at a prison and a Hamas security headquarters that used to be the Gaza residence of Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas. The IDF denied responsibility for the blasts.
