WASHINGTON (JTA) — An 86-year-old man’s request for recognition as a terror victim because he lost family members in the 1929 Hebron massacre was rejected.
Ha’aretz reported that the Defense Ministry rejected the application of Yossef Lazarovsky, whose father and 4-year-old sister were among the 67 Jews murdered by a mob of Arabs in August 1929, because the law on recognizing terror victims applies only to attacks that occurred after 1967.
Lazarovsky told Ha’aretz that it was "stupid" he had not previously sued for recognition but believed it was not too late.
