JERUSALEM (JTA) — Israel’s security-diplomatic Cabinet agreed that the Israel Defense Forces will respond to all attacks from Gaza.
The Cabinet met Wednesday to discuss the situation in Gaza, including the issue of kidnapped soldier Gilad Shalit, according to the Prime Minister’s Office.
"Israel views Hamas as responsible for all aggressive actions against Israel from the Gaza Strip," the Cabinet agreed, and instructed the IDF to respond to all attacks emanating from Gaza.
The Cabinet also discussed ways to ease restrictions on the day-to-day life of Palestinians in Gaza while maintaining Israel’s security interests.
Also, it instructed those involved in negotiations on freeing Shalit, captured by Hamas in a cross-border raid in June 2006, to "make every effort to secure his release."
