JERUSALEM (JTA) — Police apprehended a man who reportedly tried to bomb a Russian courthouse in a revenge attack.

The man had been given a suspended sentence by the court for vandalizing a Jewish center.

The Web site Jewish.ru, according to the UCSJ: Union of Councils for Jews in the Former Soviet Union, reported that the unnamed suspect allegedly prepared a large bomb to explode at the courthouse on May 9, the one-year anniversary of his sentencing.

Police in Izhevsk, a city of more than 600,000 in western Russia, became suspicious after he turned up at a hospital as a result of injuries sustained while preparing the bomb.

The report described the suspect as a neo-Nazi. He reportedly has confessed to the crime.
