JERUSALEM (JTA) — Human remains found in the Galilee have been identified as an American-Israeli teenager missing for six years.
Dana Bennett disappeared Aug. 1, 2003 after she left work at a restaurant in Tiberias.
A court-imposed gag order was placed on the rest of the details of the case.
Police and volunteers launched a massive search for Bennett, 18, at the time of her disappearance, which involved the FBI since she also was an American citizen.
A Chicago native, Bennett had come to Israel to study and live at Kibbutz Tirat Tzvi in 1999. Her mother lives in Tiberias and her father in Los Angeles.
