WASHINGTON (JTA) — George Mitchell will visit the Middle East next week.
The Obama administration’s special envoy to the region will meet with key officials in Israel, Egypt, the Palestinian Authority, the Gulf States and North Africa on a trip that begins April 13, according to the State Department.
The visit will be Mitchell’s first to Israel since Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu formed a government. A State Department release said Mitchell aims to "discuss next steps in moving the parties toward a lasting peace."
