JERUSALEM (JTA) — Israeli customs officials foiled an attempt to smuggle weapons to the West Bank from Jordan.
Officials at Israel’s border crossing with Jordan identified a cache of weapons hidden among baking supplies being smuggled into the country, according to reports.
The cache included 24 handguns, six M-16 rifles and 23 magazines of bullets.
The Shin Bet has taken over the investigation. There has been no report on the origin of the weapons.
