JERUSALEM (JTA) — The Likud and Kadima parties reopened government coalition talks, according to reports.
Prime Minister-designate Benjamin Netanyahu and Kadima Party head Tzipi Livni reportedly renewed coalition talks after they met several times last week and spoke on the phone. The parties have confirmed only one meeting, however.
The two leaders reportedly discussed the possibility of a rotation of the premiership that would have Netanyahu serving three years as prime minister and Livni holding the position for the final 21 months of the government’s term.
Livni also has demanded that Kadima manage foreign policy.
Likud and Yisrael Beiteinu were scheduled to meet Sunday to finish their coalition talks. Yisrael Beiteinu party head Avigdor Lieberman said Sunday he was amenable to a government including Kadima.
