KIEV, Ukraine (JTA) — American and Israeli youth are joining their Ukrainian counterparts in Dnepropetrovsk for an international leadership program.

The teens have gathered this week in the eastern Ukrainian city for the 13th season of the Chavayah international camp hosted by the Levi Yitzchak Shneerson Day School, part of the Ohr Avner Chabad educational network.

The intensive schedule includes participation in the charitable programs run by the Jewish community of Dnepropetrovsk, including the Educational Resource Center at the Beit Chana Women’s College and the Chesed Yeladim Charity.

Participants are also involved in a number of educational and cultural events. They are meeting with children from the families of the community’s leaders and activists, and participating in cross-cultural dialogue.

The camp is encouraging the youth to learn more about Ukrainian Jewry and the achievements of Dnepropetrovsk Jewish community.

"The participants from different countries get a charge of mutual understanding, friendship and the miracle of Jewish unity,” Oleg Rostovtsev, spokesman for the Dnepropetrovsk Jewish community, told JTA.
