SYDNEY, Australia (JTA) — A Jewish teacher in Sydney was arrested in connection with a global child pornography ring.
Paul Benjamin, a veteran teacher at the Emanuel School, was one of 22 men arrested in Australia during the bust of a pornography ring involving people in more than 50 countries.
He was arrested last month on four charges, according to a report in the Australian Jewish News, and is due in court on Jan. 27.
Benjamin, 40, who resigned from the Jewish school shortly after his arrest, is not believed to have been involved in illegal activity at the school.
In a Jan. 12 letter to parents, school principal Dr. Bruce Carter assured parents that there was "no suggestion by the police that the charges relate to the Emanuel School community."
