JERUSALEM (JTA) — Diplomatic sources in Egypt reportedly said that Israel has approved an Egyptian cease-fire proposal.

Israel’s diplomatic representative, Amos Gilad, returned to Israel Thursday from Cairo after meetings to discuss the plan, the details of which are unknown.

Gilad, the head of the Defense Ministry’s Diplomatic-Security Bureau, upon his return went into meetings with Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, Defense Minister Ehud Barak and Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni.

Ynet, which cited the diplomatic sources, reported that the main areas of disagreement appear to be the length of the proposed truce and how long it will take Israel to withdraw its troops and open the border crossings.
