Israel and the Palestinians will continue pursuing a peace deal under the Obama administration.
In a conversation between Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and U.S. President-elect Barack Obama, the two "agreed on the need to continue to advance the peace process, and this, while safeguarding the security of Israel," said a statement from Olmert’s office after the conversation, one of five Obama had with foreign leaders on Thursday. Ha’aretz reported that the Israeli and Palestinian teams planned to formalize a commitment on Sunday to continuing the talks under the new U.S. president.
