President Bush nominated two prominent Jewish Republicans to terms on the public broadcasting board.

Among six nominees announced Thursday to the seven-seat Board of Directors of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, Bush included Cheryl Feldman Halpern, a former chairman of the board, for an additional six-year term, and Liz Sembler for a first six-year term.

Halperin of New Jersey is a former chairwoman of the Republican Jewish Coalition and once led a campaign against perceived anti-Israel bias at National Public Radio, one of the institutions that receives CPB funding.

Sembler of Florida is an RJC member, a Jewish day school educator, a former journalist and a fund-raiser for Republican candidates.
