Belarus must develop economic cooperation with Iran, said the Belarus prime minister.
Sergey Sidorsky said Belarus wants to begin mining at the Iranian oil field at Jofeir. Minsk could start to finance the work at the Jofeir deposit this month, he said.
Sidorsky also said that Minsk and Tehran will make a schedule of their future economic cooperation; planned projects are still in the discussion stage.
Belarusian authorities have been seeking new partners since 2007, when Russia announced it would increase prices for oil and gas supplies for Belarus. Minsk is also cooperating on energy purchases with
Venezuela.
