Israel’s former chief military chaplain was attacked at the Western Wall for his involvement in the Gaza disengagement.
Rabbi Yisrael Weiss told Army Radio Tuesday about the attack, which occurred a month ago, but which he is just going public with now.
“I was spat on, beaten with fists, kicked. For the first time in my life, and unfortunately I’ve been through such verbal incidents more than once before, I felt fear. There, at the Western Wall, I felt that there could be a lynching of one Jew against another,” Weiss said in an interview with Army Radio.
A number of right-wing rabbis, including Rabbi Haim Druckman, Rabbi Shlomo Aviner and Rabbi Yaakov Ariel, said they would publish protests over the attack.
