Barry Holtz was named the dean of the Jewish education school at the Jewish Theological Seminary.
Holtz will assume his post July 1, replacing Steven Brown at the William Davidson Graduate School of Jewish Education.
A graduate of Tufts and Brandeis, Holtz won the National Jewish Book Award in 2004 for his most recent book, “Textual Knowledge: Teaching the Bible in Theory and in Practice.” Holtz currently is a professor of Jewish education at the seminary.
