Barack Obama’s campaign bought ads in two major California Jewish newspapers ahead of Super Tuesday primaries.

California donors to the campaign to elect the Illinois senator paid for the ads. The state is the big prize in Democratic primaries in 22 states Tuesday; Obama is facing off against Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) in the primaries.

The ads in the Los Angeles Jewish Journal and J, formerly the Northern California Jewish Bulletin, play on Obama’s slogan, “Yes, We Can.”

“Together we can,” they say in large type, and list such items as ensure Israel’s security as a Jewish state and its quest for peace; create an affordable universal health care system; end the war in Iraq; and preserve the separation between church and state.

The ads also vow to stop America’s addition to foreign oil, thus enhancing national security and providing environmental benefits; protect women’s rights on their reproductive health decisions; help end the genocide in Darfur; and provide a strong early childhood education.
