Yitzhak Rabin’s jailed killer had a son.
Yigal Amir’s wife, Larissa Trimbobbler, gave birth to a boy in a Jerusalem hospital Sunday. Amir and Trimbobbler were married at the prison where he is a serving a life term, and she became pregnant during a conjugal visit.
The circumcision is expected to take place Nov. 4, exactly 12 years after Amir gunned down Prime Minister Rabin in a Tel Aviv peace rally hoping to block lsraeli territorial concessions to the Palestinians.
The idea of Amir having a family has been divisive for Israelis. Some believe that given his unprecedented crime, Amir should be denied the creature comforts afforded other convicted felons. Others say that unless Israel passes a special law limiting the rights of political assassins, it has no way of stopping Amir from reproducing.
