Israel’s president has called for a more inclusive definition of Judaism.

In a meeting Thursday with leaders of Britain’s Reform movement, Shimon Peres also said the Jewish people have the right to decide who is a rabbi, Ha’aretz reported.

Last year, president Moshe Katsav refused to address the president of America’s Union for Reform Judaism, Rabbi Eric Yoffie, with his title of rabbi.
