The Swedish government will distribute a book by Amos Oz to all 11th grade students.
The book, “How to Cure a Fanatic,” which was never published in Hebrew, will be given to 115,000 17- and 18-year-olds in Sweden, according to Y-Net. The purpose, according to the report, is to promote tolerance and to give a different perspective on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Oz has waived his royalties from the project, which is also being funded by the March of the Spoons, a Swedish organization founded after an interview with Oz in the Swedish media in which he suggested that many people with spoons full of water can put out a fire.
The Swedish government has proposed distributing the book to all European Union member states.
