Twelve Israeli soldiers face disciplinary hearings after refusing to evict Jewish settlers from disputed West Bank properties.

Army officials said Monday that the soldiers, 10 members of a conscript infantry unit and two commanders, had announced they would not take part in the planned eviction of two Hebron families. The army said they would be court-martialed for insubordination.

The evictions are to take place Tuesday at buildings disputed by settlers and Palestinians.

The case is reminiscent of a spate of walkouts and mutinies by soldiers who objected to the 2005 evacuation of settlers from the
Gaza Strip.
