Israelis marked a year since the Lebanon war.Under the Jewish calender, Monday was the first anniversary of the July 12 abduction of two Israeli soldiers by Lebanese Hezbollah guerrillas in a cross-border raid, which triggered the 34-day conflict.Israelis held tours of the north of the country and visited military cemeteries to honor the memory of the 118 servicemen – and one servicewoman – who died during the fighting, as well as 44 civilians killed by Hezbollah rocket barrages.Defense Minister Ehud Barak, whose recent political comeback was largely due to Israelis’ desire for a more experienced military leadership in the wake of the war, was to address an evening memorial ceremony at the Mount Herzl National Cemetery in Jerusalem.
