At least six U.N. peacekeepers were killed and two others wounded in an attack on a United Nationals patrol in southern Lebanon.Sunday’s incident, the first against U.N. peacekeeping forces in the region, took place on the eastern part of the border with Israel. A senior Lebanese official in Beirut said a mine may have caused the explosion. Another security official based in southern Lebanon said, however, that the explosion was caused by a bomb that was placed on the side of the main road where the UNIFIL forces were traveling.No organization claimed responsibility for the attack, and Hezbollah condemned it.
