France will move to have the Security Council condemn the Iranian president’s recent comments on Israel.A spokesman for the French mission to the United Nations said France would formally introduce a draft declaration to the Security Council Friday condemning President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s recent declaration on the destruction of Israel. A declaration is a lesser step than a council resolution, which carries the weight of international law.On Sunday, Iran’s official news agency carried remarks by Ahmadinejad that referred to the impending destruction of Israel. Israel’s diplomatic mission to the United Nations registered a formal complaint with the council on Wednesday. The French spokesman said his delegation would like to see the declaration adopted during Friday morning’s council consultations.
