Richard Sideman was elected president of the American Jewish Committee. Sideman succeeds E. Robert Goodkind, whose three-year term ended last week with the group’s annual meeting in Washington. “These turbulent times pose enormous challenges
to the Jewish people,” said Sideman, who added that he was “deeply honored” to have been elected. “With AJC’s emphasis upon reason and tolerance, we will
confront these problems with measured determination and AJC’s trademark
diplomacy.” Sideman has been an AJCommittee member since 1982.
