The far-right British National Party failed to gain a significant number of seats in local elections, despite running a record number of candidates. In many cases in Thursday’s voting, the BNP barely managed to hold on to existing seats on local councils. Over the past several weeks, the major parties and the Jewish community mounted a campaign to keep the BNP from gaining seats.
