Richard Gordon was inaugurated Sunday as president of the American Jewish Congress. “We can only prevail if we speak for more than ourselves and about more than
ourselves,” Gordon said, according to a release from the group. “My first priority will be to return AJCongress to its traditional role
of serving as a light unto the nation on issues of social justice, much as the
Jewish people as a whole are called upon, by our tradition, to be a light unto
the nations of the world.”Gordon, an attorney, has been active in AJCongress for many years, serving
on the executive committee and the governing council. He currently is vice chairman of the governing council, a position he has held for three
years.
