The Knesset will debate the Lebanon war inquiry report Thursday. Lawmakers will be called in from recess to hear motions lodged
against the government after the Winograd Commission faulted its
handling of last summer’s war against Hezbollah.
Prime Minister Ehud Olmert looks
likely to beat any no-confidence vote given that he commands a broad
coalition government. Three partners of his Kadima Party –
Labor, Shas and Yisrael Beiteinu – already have endorsed the prime
minister’s decision not to step down.
