A century-old congregation in Rochester, Minn. is breaking ground on its first building designed for use as a synagogue.

The B’nai Israel congregation, which services a small community as well as patients at the Mayo Clinic, has existed for 100 years, but until now has used buildings built for other purposes. Its current synagogue was originally a Mormon temple. Ground will be broken Sunday on the 15,000-square-foot synagogue.
