Ahead of local elections, the Board of Deputies of British Jews called for help with a telephone campaign against the far-right British National Party. The Board of Deputies set up call centers in Manchester and London from which volunteers on Sunday will urge voters to go to the polls May 3 to prevent the BNP from making significant local gains. “We are not telling people who to vote for, but no one should be under any illusions about the core elements of the BNP’s ideology,” Board Chief Executive Jon Benjamin said. “People understand what they stand for, but just need to appreciate that complacency and voter apathy can contribute to a skewed result on Election Day.”
