Israeli forces attacked a Palestinian rocket crew in the Gaza Strip.

came after weeks in which Israel held its fire in the face of regular
cross-border rocket salvos from Gaza. According to security sources, the
operation was carried out by ground troops rather than the Air Force.

Minister Amir Peretz said Israel would continue trying to avoid an escalation in
violence. “We are committed to the policy of restraint,” he said in a speech.
“We have no war with the Palestinian people, but we must continue waging an
uncompromising war against terror.”
