The Israeli Cabinet decided to budget some $10 million to Beit Hatefutsoth over the next five years as part of the plans to revamp and expand Israel’s Museum of the Diaspora. The museum, which had been facing serious financial difficulties, now hopes to upgrade its facilities to include updated exhibits with modern technological media. Among new exhibitions planned is one documenting Jewish life in the modern era.The budget decision follows the passing of the 2005 Beit Hatefutsoth Law, which defines the museum as a national center for Jewish communities in Israel and around the world.
