A Jewish congressman introduced legislation that would allow Israelis to travel to the United States without visas. “I am hopeful this legislation will enable key American allies — including Israel, South Korea, Greece and the 10 new European Union Countries — to participate in the Visa Waiver Program,” Rep. Robert Wexler (D-Fla.) said in introducing the legislation Wednesday. “This expansion will only add to the program’s positive impact on U.S. diplomatic relations with many of our allies who have stood shoulder to shoulder with America following the tragedy of 9/11.” Currently, citizens of 27 countries, including Canada and much of Western Europe, are able to visit the United States without first obtaining visas.
