An Egyptian arrested on suspicion of spying for Israel denied the charges against him. Mohammed Attar, 31, appeared in a Cairo court Saturday and was charged with spying for Israel while he lived in Turkey and Canada, in exchange for $56,000. Attar is further accused of homosexuality and converting to Christianity, both taboo in Egypt. He denied the charges, saying a confession he gave to Egyptian counter-intelligence agents after his arrest was forced. Israel has also dismissed the case as baseless.
