We are proud to announce that Fresh Ink, The Jewish Week supplement written for and by high school students, will return as an online magazine this week after a two-year hiatus. The website, Fresh Ink For Teens (www.freshinkforteens.com), will be updated regularly, featuring essays, articles and art produced by Jewish teenagers on such themes as school, Israel, religion, politics and culture.
In its new format, “there are no deadlines,” says editor Shira Vickar-Fox. “We can constantly update the site.” And in its website venue “we have a global reach now,” available to readers and contributors outside of the Greater New York area, she said. Poetry and other forms of creative writing will be welcome
Fresh Ink, which began in 1995 as a quarterly Jewish Week supplement, won several awards from the American Jewish Press Association and the New York State Press Association. Its return as an online magazine is made possible through the generosity of the Norman E. Alexander Family Foundation fund.
Mr. Alexander was a founder of The Jewish Week and a man who lived with a zest for learning, dedication to the Jewish community and a special interest in educating and inspiring young people.
Fresh Ink for Teens aspires to live up to his ideals in providing a site for young people to reflect on what it means to be a Jew today.
