The Jewish Week took top honors in its circulation category for Comprehensive or Investigative Reporting in the American Jewish Press Association’s 2010 Simon Rockower Awards for excellence in Jewish journalism.

Associate Editor Julie Wiener’s series on Hebrew charter schools won the first place award named after Boris Smolar, a former editor of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency.

Second place honors for the features category went to Editorial Assistant and Nosh Pit columnist Amy Spiro for a piece on the national passion for hummus.

The Jewish Week’s Text/Context, a joint project with Nextbook and edited by Sandee Brawarsky, also won second place honors for excellence in special supplements.

The awards were announced during the AJPA’s annual editors’ conference last weekend in Dallas.
